My name is Timmy Brister. I am a Christian who finds his passion around the gospel of Jesus Christ and communicating Christ in our culture. I am a graduate of the University of Mobile (2001) and served in a church plant to develop their student ministry (2001-2004). Currently, I am a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (2004-present). Most recently (March 2008), I accepted the position of associate pastor at Grace Baptist Church, Cape Coral, Florida. My wife, Dusti, has been God’s gift to me. We have been married since 2003 and have one son, Nolan, who entered our lives on December 18, 2007. Oh, and we have one dog–a pomeranian named Hershey.

I have been blogging since March 2005 (here is my old blog) and moved to WordPress in January 2007. While I am somewhat an active blogger, I hope to be known for my calling as a minister of the gospel, a faithful husband, and a loving father.  On the side, there are several hobbies I enjoy, including photography and cycling.   Having move to Florida, I hope to begin racing in the multi-sport races, beginning with sprint-triathlons and moving ultimately to the Ironman.

When I started blogging, I wrote for the purpose of communicating with friends and family my thoughts on life, God, culture, and theological musings. Within a span of six months, I realized that more people were reading my blog than my mom and dad, so I started to write with more focus and forethought. Since its inception, P&P has changed in numerous ways and continues to develop as I seek to provide a blog that is informative, substantive, and provocative. In general, you can expect to find random posts from topics including the gospel of Jesus Christ, the 2008 Puritan Reading Challenge, Blue Collar Theology, missional Christianity, contemporary theological issues, the SBC, book previews, Reformed theology, and photography.
