We heard a rebroadcast of this "prayer" and my daughter, age 9, piped up and said it was all vain janglings. Isn't that a nice tag? I was glad God gave her that discernment.

The problem with a god of our MANY UNDERSTANDINGS is expressed well in these verses:

From Romans 1 - "And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being ... WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING", etc.

From Ephesians 4 - "This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the FUTILITY of their MIND, having their UNDERSTANDING DARKENED, being alienated from the life of God, because of the IGNORANCE that is in them, because of the BLINDNESS of their heart ..."

We might consider just what sort of god would spring forth from darkened, futile understandings, having not been enlightened by the living God. Sadly this is just the sort of god now worshiped in our nation and very often in our churches.

As an exhortation to us believers, Ephesians 5:17 - "So then do not be foolish, but UNDERSTAND what the will of THE LORD is."

May God grant us mercy and wisdom, as He judges the nations righteously.

It's a sad when openly lost people are are called bishop. Gene Robinson is not simply openly gay, he is openly lost. He seems to be proud of it, thumbing his nose at the God of Scripture. I'm afraid he is more of a representative for our nation's mindset than what many, if not most, in our churches realize. The United States is not a Christian country. It is a mission field.

O Lord, be merciful to us and pour out your Spirit upon this land. Raise up a people dedicated to the proclamation of the truth, the Gospel, that eyes may see and ears may hear. Remove this deception from our land. You are our only hope. Amen.
