That was the report we received at the conclusion of this evening’s service when Tom Ascol (our senior pastor) returned from Alaska.  When asked how he feels in relation to his health prior to the lightning strike, he responded that he feels 100%.  We praise God for the way God has been answering the prayers of so many people.  I wanted to pass along this good news to you as I know that many of you have been praying for Tom. He will continue to rest for the rest of the month with his scheduled sabbatical, but I look forward to laboring alongside him in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ as God continues to give us grace and strengthens us for this good work.  Thanks again for your prayers and encouragement over the past six weeks!

You can read more of Tom’s recent travels in his most recent blogpost.

That is great news. We were praying for Tom just yesterday (and will continue to do so).

Thanks, Tim, for the encouraging words regarding Tom. I know that this is the report that you received and I do appreciate your desire to pass it on. I do want to make a point of clarification. While Tom is greatly improved and we are incredibly encouraged by the healing that has brought us to this point, he is still experiencing some lingering difficulties from the lightning strike though they not as severe as they were a few weeks ago. We are hopeful that, in time, they too will be taken away, however, we are trusting God that He knows what is best. If what Tom is still experiencing is the “new normal” we will adjust and continue to thank God for His mercy and grace to us.

I just wanted to clear that up and thank all those who are praying and will continue to pray for healing, patience and contentment. Thank you, Tim, for your support and encouragement to our family. You and Dusti are a real blessing to us and to the church.

Thanks for the update. It is truly an answer to prayer! It’s great to see the way God is clearly working in both of your lives.

    Donna,

Thank you for the clarification and kind words. I certainly do not want to give the impression that, although God has done wonderful things in answering prayers, that Tom is completely free from any of the effects of the lightning strike. Your comments remind us that while Tom feels much better, he still needs our prayer. I will, and I ask others to as well, continue in prayer for Tom’s complete recovery and contentment in being at God’s disposal.
