The best thing that I did was to plant myself in a local church, and become immersed in its ministry.

I taught a men’s Sunday School class the entire time, and participated in the missions and outreach programs. Summer breaks were devoted to mission trips. I completed my Seminary mandated semester long practicum at this church, receiving valuable training from my pastor. I truly believe that what I learned in church during that period was every bit as important as what i learned in the classroom.

19 years following Seminary graduation I now know what I didn’t know, but most of the deficiencies were scholastic rather than practical.
