Timmy,
I want to thank you for this memorial to the saintly Sibbes. While I don't yet have the complete Banner of Truth set of his works, I do have a used volume I picked up somewhere as well as the Puritan Paperback Series which includes the two you mentioned. I must confess I have yet to read any of his writing. A friend of mine has highly recommended him, but I haven't gotten to it yet. So many books to choose from. After reading your blog, I know I can't afford to put it off any longer. Like the Rev'd Dr Who, I'm excited about digging into this goldmine of Sibbes exalting the Christ he loved, our Glorious Redeemer and Lord Jesus!

Thanks Timmy for the short bio on Sibbes.

If anyone wants to learn more about Sibbes Mark Dever's biography of him is very good ( http://www.amazon.com/RICHARD-SIBBES-Mark-E-Dever/dp/0865546576 ). It is too bad there is just not enough time to read the biographies of the various authors as they do help in seeing where the author is coming from.

As an aside, while reading the Bruised Reed I was thinking this might be a tough read (not reed) for those seeking more of a "don't worry be happy" gospel.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm so excited! My copy is still in the post somewhere but you're just making this whole project more and more exciting. I almost can't stand the anticipation anymore!

Thanks so much for putting together this little reading list. I think this is the sort of reading I could easily do, but without someone to guide and advise like this I just wouldn't take the initiative to come up with something like this. Thanks for sharing your great idea with the wider Church and not keeping it to yourself. I don't even live on the same continent as you and it's having an impact on me and my friends.

Yours in Him
