Here’s a telling excerpt:

“You said ‘I like to see myself as a life coach, a motivator to help them experience the life of God that God has for them. People don’t like to be beat down and told ‘You’ve done wrong.’ What do you mean?” Pitts asks.

“Well, I think that most people already know what they’re doing wrong. And for me to get in here and just beat ‘em down and talk down to ‘em, I just don’t think that inspires anybody to rise higher. But I want to motivate. I wanna motivate every person to leave here to be a better father, a better husband, to break addictions to come up higher in their walk with the Lord,” Osteen says.

“I mean is that being a pastor or is that being Dr. Phil or Oprah?” Pitts asks.

“No, I think we use God’s word. I think the principles that you hear Dr. Phil and some of those others talk about many times are right out of the Bible,” Osteen says.

Osteen admits that he does not preach the Christian Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s a free country, he can say what he wants. What he should NOT be doing is holding the office of pastor in a local church. He could be a great motivational speaker with a huge place to speak. It should not be called a church w/ him as pastor. At a book signing they showed a couple who was Roman Catholic and Jewish, they told Osteen they watch him every week and that he has helped them. The mere fact that a RC and Jew can watch that every week and not be under conviction should tell people Osteen is preaching a false Gospel. He also received a multi million dollar advance for his new book.

I feel that the majority of the blame is on the “preachers” who take advantage of those who are despondant and prey on those who seek hope, only to find dust and ashes.
For the record, anointed does NOT primarily mean empowered. I don’t know where Jakes gets that from.
