I can see that David is as thoughtful and careful with his words as he always has been, I was priviledged to study Greek under David in his first year at Criswell College in the 80's. He was a breath of fresh air at the college. My thoughts and prayers are with David, Lanese and the Union University student body as they clean up after the devistating storms of last night. May our Lord continue to bless David and his ministry.

Ken,

Very well stated!

Dr. Dockery stands out among his peers and paves the path for progress in the SBC. Some as mentioned at Greensboro have led the Convention down "side streets" (to use Ed Young Sr.'s term) while others at the wheel many consider to be guilty of wreckless driving. We need men at the wheel who are under the influence of the gospel and are willing to take us down the high road to unity and progress in mission for the glory of God and advance of His kingdom. Many bloggers have come to be considered as back-seat drivers because they have not liked the direction our Convention has been going. I have sufficient reason to believe that the renewal of Baptist identity and mission that Dockery seeks to foster will do much for getting more sinners who need Jesus on the road to glory.

Though we have not met, Tim, I feel a spiritual kinship with you and express appreciation for your successful effort to encourage dialogue within our denomination.

Dr. David Dockery, in my judgment, is arguably the most incisive, informed and irenic thinker among Southern Baptists today. His answers to all of your excellent questions were measured, thoughtful, and, in my opinion, right on target.

Dr. Dockery is one of those rare leaders who can find concensus on primary issues without compromise. His rhetoric reflects respect rather than ridicule of those who are dissenters of his positions.

My hope is that more men and women like Dr. Dockery will be heard above the din of less charitable and more acerbic leaders within the SBC. Thanks for these five conversations. You have moved all of us who read your blog in the right direction.
